Bowel Cancer Tumour Stream

An overarching tumour stream approach is aimed at identifying and addressing issues within specific cancer journey pathways within the Midland Cancer Network. There are a number of different pieces of work being undertaken including

  • Completing outstanding actions from the elective services review 2010
  • A review of colonoscopy capacity and demand to meet the new Ministry of Health indicator reporting requirements, expected by July 2012
  • Improving the processes and systems within the multidisciplinary team for colorectal cancer including the ability to record a minimum dataset
  • Further development and roll out of the patient diary for colorectal cancer patients initially developed at Waikato Hospital
  • Developing and implementing a regional clinical audit program
  • Ensuring implementation of national guidance and best practice
