Bowel Cancer Tumour Stream
An overarching tumour stream approach is aimed at identifying and addressing issues within specific cancer journey pathways within the Midland Cancer Network. There are a number of different pieces of work being undertaken including
- Completing outstanding actions from the elective services review 2010
- A review of colonoscopy capacity and demand to meet the new Ministry of Health indicator reporting requirements, expected by July 2012
- Improving the processes and systems within the multidisciplinary team for colorectal cancer including the ability to record a minimum dataset
- Further development and roll out of the patient diary for colorectal cancer patients initially developed at Waikato Hospital
- Developing and implementing a regional clinical audit program
- Ensuring implementation of national guidance and best practice
